What is phenolic plywood?
Phenolic plywood is plywood with a phenolic resin film bonded to the face(s) under high heat and pressure. The phenolic overlay is extremely hard, smooth, and waterproof — making it ideal for concrete formwork, marine applications, and industrial uses. HDO (High Density Overlay) is the premium grade of phenolic plywood.
What does HDO mean in HDO formwork plywood?
HDO stands for High Density Overlay. It refers to a very dense phenolic resin sheet (typically 120+ g/m²) that is thermally fused to both faces of the plywood under pressure. The result is an extremely hard, smooth, chemical-resistant surface that releases cleanly from concrete and can withstand many more reuse cycles than standard film faced plywood.
How many times can phenolic plywood be reused?
Quality HDO phenolic plywood like Vinawood's Basic 2S can achieve 30 to 50 reuse cycles with correct release agent application and careful handling. The exact reuse count depends on overlay weight, pour conditions, and site care.
