Quick Answers

What is film-faced plywood for Canadian formwork?
Film-faced plywood is a pour panel with phenolic resin film bonded to the face so wet concrete hits the film, not bare veneer. Canadian slab and wall crews use it because the film releases cleaner and holds a fairer cast face across reuse. Vinawood faces are phenolic film; core glue is a separate line — MUF on Eco Form Plus, Form Basic, and Form Extra, or PF Class 3 on Pro Form Lite, Pro Form, and HDO. Browse the film-faced plywood collection for current grades; film colour alone does not name the bond class.
Is film-faced plywood waterproof?
No. Call it water-resistant / WBP, not waterproof. The phenolic face film and WBP glue handle wet concrete and site rain when edges stay sealed. Permanent submersion is a marine-core job, not a pour panel. Unsealed cuts and tie holes are still the usual early failure on Canadian winter pours — inventing 25/30/50+ reuse without sealed edges and release agent will not hold.
Do Canadian mills make film-faced formwork plywood?
No. Canadian SPF and OSB mills make construction sheathing, not film-faced formwork. Film-faced plywood suppliers in Canada are importers, distributors, or yards stocking mill packs from mills that press a phenolic face onto a plantation-grown hardwood core. Vinawood presses in Vietnam (est. 1992) — see About Vinawood — and ships factory-direct or via distribution warehouses in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal for ready stock to local distributors, about 5,000 containers a year to 55+ countries. No rival mill names on this page.
Mill pack vs Canadian retail / yard stock — which fits a reuse programme?
Big-box and lumberyard aisles sell cut sheets for one-off footings; grades, bond class, and reuse are often missing. A repeating Canadian formwork programme needs a mill pack or distributor-ready stock with mill test reports — glue class, film gsm, and reuse written as up to N. Match the RFQ to mill identity and the pour programme, not a DIY sheet SKU or a ranked supplier list. Canada-facing notes live on the Canada market hub.
What bond class and film-faced grades belong on a Canada RFQ?
Write glue class, not film colour. EN 636-2 / Class 2 covers Eco Form Plus (up to 8), Form Basic (up to 10), and Form Extra (up to 15, Superior Glue MUF — not Class 3). EN 636-3 / Class 3 covers Pro Form Lite (up to 15), Pro Form (up to 20), and HDO (Basic up to 10 / Premium up to 20). Soft NA add-ons: HDO and MatteFace (MDO search bridge) are OK for stocking; do not hero KS Tego. Add film gsm, 1220×2440 size, and reuse as up to N so quotes stay comparable. Grade pages sit under the Vinawood product catalog.
How do Canadian buyers source film-faced plywood from a Vietnam mill?
Ask for mill identity, EN 636 glue class, overlay film gsm, and a written reuse envelope as up to N. Prefer a Vietnam mill with mill test reports — plantation-grown core, 12-step process, 100% sheet inspection — or ready stock through a local distributor drawing from Vinawood warehouses, over a generic lumberyard SKU. Confirm FSC or PEFC CoC and EPA/CARB paperwork when the job requires it. Start the mill RFQ at request a mill quotation or RFQ — not DIY sheet sales.
