What is film faced plywood used for in concrete formwork?
Film faced plywood is a structural sheet with a phenolic overlay pressed on both faces so wet concrete hits the film, not bare veneer. Crews cut it for walls, slabs, columns, and odd openings where a saw-ready panel still fits. The overlay is a casting face for cleaner strip and less grain print. It is not a marine claim, and it does not set the glue class by itself. Steel systems win on identical high-rise bays; most cut-up pours still want a sheet you can saw.
Is the brown film the same thing as phenolic Class 3 glue?
No. Face film and core glue are separate lines on the TDS. Vinawood formwork faces are phenolic paper. Core glue is either MUF (EN 636-2 / Class 2 on Eco Form Plus, Form Basic, and Form Extra) or PF (EN 636-3 / Class 3 on Pro Form Lite, Pro Form, and HDO). A brown face on an MUF panel is still Class 2. Bare "melamine" on an RFQ should mean core MUF — not a melamine face film (Vinawood faces are phenolic) and not cabinetry laminate.
How many reuses can film faced plywood take?
Reuse is always an up to N mill card, never N+. Typical Vinawood ceilings under good site care: Eco Form Plus up to 8, Form Basic up to 10, Form Extra and Pro Form Lite up to 15, Pro Form up to 20, HDO Basic up to 10, HDO Premium / Premium HD up to 20 by card. Release agent, sealed edges, and flat stacking decide whether you hit the card. Floor count is not a cycle count.
Film faced vs HDO vs MatteFace — which should a buyer specify?
Specify film faced when the job wants an EN film overlay (often 1250×2500 in Europe). Specify
HDO plywood when a US/CA yard wants a high-density overlay for high reuse or fair-face (HDO Basic up to 10; HDO Premium up to 20). Specify
MatteFace Plywood (MTF, up to 15) when the face should be matte; buyers often search that line as MDO formwork plywood. MDO is a search bridge, not the product name. MatteFace is formwork only — not an AD/CVD claim.
Where do importers buy mill film faced plywood (not retail DIY sheets)?
Factory-direct mill supply is the B2B path: name overlay, bond class (EN 636-2 or EN 636-3), film weight (120 / 165 / 220 g/m² where the catalogue lists them), size, and reuse class on the RFQ. Vinawood ships plantation-grown formwork panels from Vietnam to 55+ countries. Start with the

Does film faced plywood meet exterior (Class 3) glue requirements?
Only when the core glue is PF and the card says EN 636-3. On Vinawood that is Pro Form Lite, Pro Form, and the HDO range. Form Extra uses Superior Glue MUF and stays EN 636-2 even when the face film looks the same — a heavier film does not upgrade the glue class. Consply is commercial Bintangor, not film-faced. Always write the class number on the PO, not just "WBP."
