Quick Answers

Is melamine plywood waterproof?
No plywood is waterproof. Melamine plywood has a water-resistant bond. A WBP melamine-urea-formaldehyde glue rated EN 636-2 handles humid and exterior-protected service, which is a real weatherproof rating for its class, not an interior-only board. Name the bond class (WBP vs MR) rather than relying on the word melamine.
What is the difference between melamine board and melamine plywood?
Melamine board usually means MFC — a melamine face film over a chipboard or MDF core. Melamine plywood keeps a cross-laminated wood core. The plywood core holds screws better, gives a cleaner exposed edge, and stays more dimensionally stable, which is why it costs more.
Is melamine stronger than plywood?
The question really compares an MFC board with a plywood one, since melamine is a resin, not a core. On strength and screw-holding a plywood core wins; on a flat, prefinished, low-cost surface for dry furniture MFC is hard to beat. Match the core and surface to the load and exposure.
What is the difference between melamine and phenolic plywood?
It is an exposure class, not a quality ranking. Melamine-urea-formaldehyde plywood is a WBP bond rated EN 636-2 for humid and exterior-protected use; phenolic plywood is EN 636-3 for permanent exterior and higher rotation. Both are weatherproof bonds. Vinawood's Form range uses melamine glue; Pro Form and HDO use phenolic.
How many times can melamine formwork plywood be reused?
Up to 10 cycles for Form Basic and up to 15 for Form Extra, as maximums with proper handling. Form Extra reaches more cycles because of a more durable, higher-melamine-content glue, not a different face film. Sealing every cut edge is what protects the reuse count.
