Is melamine the same as phenolic?
No. Melamine glue here means MUF core resin between veneers (EN 314 Class 2 / EN 636-2). Phenolic glue means PF core resin (EN 314 Class 3 / EN 636-3). Both appear in real film-faced formwork panels. They sit at different pour-count and exposure envelopes. Face film color is a separate line on the data sheet.
What does melamine mean on a film-faced RFQ?
Three products share the word. Core resin MUF is the formwork glue on Eco Form Plus, Form Basic, and Form Extra. Face film can be melamine paper on some light-duty panels elsewhere — Vinawood film-faced formwork uses a phenolic face film over either MUF or PF core glue. Decorative laminate is cabinets only. Is phenolic film-faced always better than melamine?
No. Phenolic (PF) fits long-cycle, weather-exposed, or Class 3 specs. Melamine (MUF) fits short and mid-cycle programs under EN 636-2. Buying PF for a six-cycle covered slab is overspend when Class 3 is not on the drawing. Match pour count and bond class, not the louder acronym.
How many times can film-faced plywood be reused by glue class?
Catalogued reuse under good site care: Eco Form Plus up to 8, Form Basic up to 10, Form Extra up to 15 (Superior Glue MUF, EN 636-2 — not Class 3). Pro Form Lite up to 15 (PF, Class 3). Pro Form up to 20. HDO Basic up to 10; HDO Premium / Premium HD up to 20. Field results usually land lower when strip care slips.
Is Form Extra phenolic Class 3?
No. Form Extra is Superior Glue MUF, EN 636-2. Longer reuse comes from glue chemistry, not a heavier face film. Only Pro Form Lite, Pro Form, and HDO grades sit in EN 636-3 / Class 3 with WBP phenolic core glue. Do not substitute Form Extra when the engineer named Class 3.
What should I write on the melamine vs phenolic RFQ?
State pour count and exposure first, then EN 636-2 vs EN 636-3, film weight if catalogued, thickness, and sheet size. Name the grade band — Eco Form Plus through Pro Form, or HDO Basic vs Premium for NA. Consply is not film-faced. P-Form is polypropylene, not Pro Form. No sheet prices in the RFQ body; sales prices from the spec.
