What is climbing formwork?
Climbing formwork is wall formwork that rises with the structure after each lift. Once a pour cures enough to carry load, the crew releases the form, raises it one pour height, and re-anchors it into the concrete just cast. The same panels and platforms ride up the building instead of being rebuilt at every storey.
What is the difference between jump form and self-climbing formwork?
Jump form is the crane-set method: a tower crane lifts the gang between pours. Self-climbing systems use hydraulic jacks on rails or rods fixed to the wall, so the crane stays freer for other loads. Self-climbing costs more to set up and pays on taller, repetitive cores where saved crane time matters.
What is the difference between slipform and climbing formwork?
Climbing formwork pours in discrete lifts with a cure-and-climb cycle and construction joints between levels. Slipform moves almost continuously while concrete is still plastic, so there is no discrete jump. The three methods are not interchangeable on an RFQ.
Where is climbing formwork used?
