Quick Answers

Is REACH Annex XVII Entry 77 in force for plywood now?
Yes. Entry 77 has applied since 6 August 2026, and there is no grace period for containers that arrive after that date. Film-faced plywood placed on the EU market has to stay at or below 0.062 mg/m³ formaldehyde in the EN 717-1 chamber test. Stock already placed on the market before the start date is not caught.
What is REACH Annex XVII Entry 77?
It is the formaldehyde restriction that Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1464 wrote into REACH Annex XVII. The limit is 0.062 mg/m³ for furniture and wood-based articles and 0.080 mg/m³ for the other articles in scope. Formwork plywood is a wood-based article, so 0.062 mg/m³ is the ceiling for EU-bound pour panels.
Which test method applies to plywood under Entry 77, EN 717-1 or EN 16516?
Both are allowed, but EN 717-1 is the chamber method built for wood-based panels and the report most buyers ask to see. The two methods can read differently on the same panel, so agree the method in the purchase contract before the order is placed. Quicker checks such as gas analysis or the perforator are useful for factory control between chamber runs, but they are not what you show an inspector as REACH proof.
Which Vinawood film-faced grades suit the 0.062 mg/m³ limit?
Our phenolic-bonded grades, Pro Form and Pro Form Lite, are the lower-emission route because cured PF glue leaves little free formaldehyde to escape. Form Basic, Form Extra and Eco Form Plus use MUF core glue at EN 636-2 Class 2, so get a current batch EN 717-1 report on file before you confirm an order. With any grade, a measured result tied to your batch is the proof, not a description of the glue chemistry.
What documents does an EU importer need for plywood under Entry 77?
Ask for the EN 13986 Declaration of Performance, an EN 717-1 chamber report from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab that is tied to your batch and shows 0.062 mg/m³ or less, and a signed Entry 77 declaration quoting that report. Add EUR.1 or another EVFTA proof of origin, chain-of-custody papers if you make sustainability claims, and an Article 33 SVHC status statement. Early in enforcement, a missing or out-of-date test report is the likeliest reason for a port hold.
Does CE marking under EN 13986 satisfy REACH Annex XVII?
No. The EN 13986 Declaration of Performance describes how the panel performs in a structure, and its formaldehyde line usually states E1, which is about 0.124 mg/m³ on the chamber method. Entry 77 asks a separate and stricter question, so a panel with a valid CE mark can still be stopped for REACH. A complete file holds both documents, naming the same product and batch.
