Formwork Plywood Czech Republic: Překližka Bednící Supplier Guide
Film-faced formwork plywood (překližka bednicí) for Czech contractors and distributors: EN 636 Class 2 and Class 3 grades, CE marked, shipped via North Sea, Baltic or Adriatic ports.

Czech Sites Need a Lot of Formwork Plywood
Motorway sections, rail upgrades, apartment blocks in Prague and Brno, warehouses along the D1. Almost all of it is cast-in-place concrete, and almost every pour sits against a film-faced board that Czech crews call překližka bednící or simply bednící deska.
For years that board came from Baltic birch mills and Central European producers. Some Czech distributors now also buy from Vietnam. Why bother with a longer supply line? Two reasons, mostly. Vietnamese-origin plywood can qualify for reduced duty under the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and plantation timber makes the EUDR paperwork straightforward.
We are Vinawood. We have made plywood in Vietnam since 1992 and ship about 5,000 containers a year to 55+ countries. This guide is for Czech buyers sizing up formwork plywood from our mill: the words, the standards, the grades and how the boxes get to Czechia.
Czech Terms, and What We Read Them As
An enquiry in Czech gets translated before it reaches the production floor. Get one word wrong and the wrong board ships. This is roughly how our sales desk reads them:
| Czech Term | English Equivalent | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Překližka bednící | Formwork or shuttering plywood | What most contractors say |
| Bednící deska | Formwork board | Often for a single panel |
| Vodovzdorná překližka | Water-resistant plywood | Ask which glue class is meant: WBP phenolic or MUF |
| Filmovaná překližka | Film-faced plywood | Board with a resin film overlay |
| Překližka na beton | Plywood for concrete | Loose trade term |
Our tip: write filmovaná překližka bednící, film both faces, EN 636-2 (or EN 636-3), 2500 × 1250 mm, plus the thickness. One line. Face, glue, size, done, and the guessing stops there.
Standards Czech Tenders Ask For
Czechia uses the harmonised EU standards. Three matter for formwork.
- EN 636-2: plywood for humid conditions. Enough for most wall and slab work, where panels get wet during the pour and dry between cycles.
- EN 636-3: plywood for exterior conditions. Bridges, civil work, and panels that sit out on site through rain and frost.
- EN 13986: the standard behind CE marking for construction panels. A Declaration of Performance (DoP) is now routine on public jobs, EU-funded ones in particular.
Then formaldehyde. REACH tightened in August 2026 and the cap for wood-based panels is 0.062 mg/m³ now. Send us your project's limit; the emission class per grade goes on our quote. And if it's a green public tender, someone will want FSC or PEFC. We've got both and can supply certified material when the order specifies it.
Our Grades for the Czech Market
We make five film-faced grades. Czech frames are built for 2500 × 1250 mm, so that's the size we'd quote, though 2440 × 1220 mm is there if you need it. Thickness runs 12, 15, 18 or 21 mm.
| Product | EN Class | Glue | Face Film | Reuse | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eco Form Plus | EN 636-2 | MUF | 165 g/m² | up to 8 | Housing walls and slabs on a budget |
| Form Basic | EN 636-2 | MUF | 165 g/m² | up to 10 | Standard commercial and multi-storey |
| Form Extra | EN 636-2 | Melamine Top MUF | 165 g/m² | up to 15 | Heavier commercial use |
| Pro Form Lite | EN 636-3 | WBP phenolic | 165 g/m² | up to 15 | Class 3 at a moderate pour count |
| Pro Form | EN 636-3 | WBP phenolic | 125 g/m² | up to 20 | Bridges, civil, long-cycle projects |
Ask a Czech wall crew and they'll nearly always say 18 mm. Cores are plantation Acacia, Eucalyptus and Hevea, which hold screws well and keep density even from sheet to sheet.
A word on Form Extra. It reuses more than Form Basic because of the glue, not a heavier film. It stays Class 2. Tender says EN 636-3? Then it's Pro Form or Pro Form Lite, full stop.
Why Czech Buyers Look Beyond Birch
Sanctions changed the map
Since 2022 Russian birch has been off the table, banned under EU sanctions. That took a big source out of the Czech market almost overnight, and the Finnish and Baltic mills that remain are working with tight log supply. Buyers who used to run one supplier now want two.
EVFTA duty
Bring an EUR.1 (or other valid proof of origin) and Vietnamese plywood may come in at a lower rate under EVFTA, in some cases nil. Which rate, though, depends on the HS 4412 subheading. Your customs broker will know. Ring them before you price anything.
EUDR traceability
EUDR asks a blunt question: can you show this wood didn't come off cleared forest? All Vinawood timber is plantation-grown, with plot coordinates on record. We send a Due Diligence Statement and the full EUDR pack on request, and can file it straight into your EUDR software.
In our view the birch-or-Vietnam question is the wrong one. A distributor can keep its birch line and still add a second source. Nobody's asking anyone to pick a side, just to stop betting everything on one mill.
Getting the Boxes to Czechia
Czechia has no sea, obviously, so a box lands somewhere else and finishes the trip by truck or train. For Prague and Plzeň, Hamburg is the usual pick. Rotterdam works for rail into Moravia. Brno and the south-east? Koper, down in Slovenia, often works. Ostrava buyers tend to go through Gdańsk and Polish distributors.
Incoterms: FOB Hai Phong is our default. Want CIF Hamburg or Koper instead? Just ask. How long it sails depends on the line and the routing, so we give you that at booking rather than guess now.
Container load: sheets per box depend on thickness and format. You'll find yield tables on the specs page; your quote has the real number. First orders are often a 20-foot box with two or three grades mixed in.
Documents: proof of origin for EVFTA, the DoP under EN 13986, the mill certificate with class, film weight and glue type, and FSC or PEFC papers when ordered. Want SGS or Bureau Veritas to look at the load before it closes? We'll book it.
Ask for a Quote or Samples
We sell to distributors, formwork hire firms and contractors, in Czechia or anywhere else in Central Europe. Tell us grade, thickness, size, how much and where to, and you'll get a quote back, or data sheets, or a box of samples if you'd rather feel the board first. Enquiries get an answer within 24 hours.
